Student Organizations

Getting involved with student organizations provides students with the opportunity to gain leadership experience, explore new interests and career paths, network with faculty, staff, and peers; and serve both NEOMED and the surrounding communities.   There are more than 90 student organizations at NEOMED, so there is something for everyone!

The Office of Student Services maintains a list of active student organizations and community service opportunities in CampusGroups.  They also provide resources for student organizations. If you are interested in starting a new student organization, please contact the Office of Student Services at studentservices@neomed.edu.  They will be able to go over the requirements and registration process with you.

TYPES OF STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS

There are several different types of student organizations available to Pharm.D. students enrolled at NEOMED.  For more information, to see a complete list, and to inquire about membership, visit CampusGroups.

As a student enrolled in the College of Pharmacy, joining one or more professional organizations will provide you with networking opportunities, encourage professional development, offer leadership experience, and give you with up-to-date knowledge of current issues and opportunities in pharmacy.  Some examples include:

  • American Pharmacists Association (APhA-ASP)
  • Student Association of Specialty Pharmacy (SASP)
  • Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA)
  • Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists (SSHP)

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Alliances

  • Christian Medical Association
  • Latino Medical Student Association
  • Muslim Student Association

Pharmacy Clubs

Pharmacy clubs encourage students to explore areas of pharmacy, gain valuable insight, and acquire additional professional skills.   Two examples you will find in CampusGroups:

  • NEOMED Compounding Club
  • Nuclear Medicine Club

Social Clubs

Choose from groups that enjoy far-ranging activities from ballroom dancing, video games, to staying fit.  Social clubs will give you the opportunity to connect with other students that share your interests or allow you to explore new endeavors.

Pharmacy Honor Societies

Membership to the following honor societies is extended by invitation only.  Students are nominated by faculty and/or their peers for membership.

Phi Lambda Sigma

The purpose of Phi Lambda Sigma, also known as the National Pharmacy Leadership Society, is to promote the development of leadership qualities, especially among pharmacy students.  By peer recognition the Society encourages participation in all pharmacy activities.

Rho Chi

As the academic honor society in pharmacy, the Rho Chi Society encourages and recognizes excellence in intellectual achievement, stimulates critical inquiry to advance pharmacy, contributes to the development of intellectual leaders, promotes the highest ethical standards, and fosters collaboration.
