Promoting health of individuals, families & communities
Education
Education is the highest priority in the Department of Family and Community Medicine, from our predoctoral and partner residency programs, to faculty development and continuing medical education.
Research
Academic research in the Department of Family and Community Medicine focuses on three broad research areas: primary care, population and public health and medical culture, and health education and career development. The department is also home to the annual Scholarship Day.

- the administrative offices of the Consortium of Eastern Ohio Master of Public Health (CEOMPH) Program,
- strong educational Office of Geriatric Medicine and of Office of Palliative Care,
- a unique Office of Public Health Practice that is home to the first-in-the-nation academically affiliated departments of public health and
- a Bioethics Certificate Program available for medicine and pharmacy students.
We also proudly sponsor the annual William Carlos Williams Poetry Competition, which is open to medical student and physician poets.
