In partnership with Peg’s Foundation, the vision of NEOMED’s Department of Psychiatry in the College of Medicine — through the Coordinating Centers of Excellence — is to serve as a national model for disseminating state-of-the-art programs and practices that promote recovery and improve the lives of individuals with schizophrenia and other mental illnesses — as well as the lives of those around them.

The Coordinating Centers of Excellence aspire to make programs and practices available at every point in the course of an individual’s illnesses and to maximize the chances of recovery by intervening as early as possible.
The Best Practices in Schizophrenia Treatment (BeST) Center promotes recovery and works to improve the lives of people with schizophrenia through resources and training for experts, community, individuals and families.
The Criminal Justice Coordinating Center of Excellence advocates that mental health and criminal justice systems work together to improve the quality of life of those residents of Ohio who suffer from mental disorders and who are at risk of finding their way unnecessarily into the criminal justice system.
The Ohio Program for Campus Safety and Mental Health promotes suicide prevention, mental health awareness and stigma reduction activities at college campuses across the state of Ohio.
